Santa Eulalia del Río

Santa Eulària des Riu (Santa Eulalia del Río) covers Ibiza’s east coast and much of the island’s interior. At around 153 km², it is the island’s second-largest municipality. It appeals to those looking for a quieter year-round life than in Ibiza Town or Sant Antoni (San Antonio), while remaining some fifteen kilometres from the capital. Our office is in the town centre.

The town

The centre is arranged around its seafront, two gently shelving town beaches and a marina lined with restaurants. The town takes its name from the only river in the Balearic Islands, which meets the sea just west of the centre. On the Puig de Missa hill, the fortified sixteenth-century church, built as a refuge from pirates, overlooks the bay and houses the Ethnological Museum of Ibiza and Formentera.

Villages and neighbourhoods

Jesús, on the edge of Ibiza Town, and Puig d’en Valls offer easy access to the capital. Santa Gertrudis, in the heart of the island, is a village known for its restaurants and galleries. Sant Carles (San Carlos) is more rural and home to the Las Dalias market, which opened in 1985. Around Roca Llisa and Cala Llonga lies the island’s only golf club, with an 18-hole and a 9-hole course. Es Canar and S’Argamassa are family-friendly resorts; the Punta Arabí hippy market, founded in 1973 in Es Canar, is the oldest on Ibiza. The countryside of Morna, Valverde, Can Furnet, Cap Martinet and Siesta is home to many of the area’s villas and fincas.

Beaches

The municipality’s coastline has around twenty beaches and coves, including Cala Llonga, Cala Nova, Cala Llenya, Cala Mastella, Cala Boix, Es Figueral and, to the north-east, Aigües Blanques (Aguas Blancas).
